Riegel was the son of the company founder, also named Hans Riegel, who in 1920 set up Haribo an acronym for Hans Riegel Bonn. In 1922, his father invented the dancing bear, a small bear made out of fruit gum that laid the foundations for Haribo s later success with the gold bear.
The company founder died in 1945. Upon being released as allied prisoners after World War II, Riegel and his younger brother, Paul, set about rebuilding the family firm. Haribo had only about 30 employees immediately after the war but, as West Germany s economy took off, the number was up to 1,000 five years later.
Paul Riegel, who died in 2009, focused on production long island iced tea while Hans Riegel took charge of marketing and sales for instance, promoting the company s wares with the slogan kids and grown-ups love it so, the happy world of Haribo.
Haribo said Riegel took inspiration from children s magazines and comics, once saying: I love children. long island iced tea They are my customers. I have to be informed about what they want to nibble, what they think, what language they speak.

The gummis may have all started out very Smurf-like in shape, but mine got melted a bit in my car, s

I once bought Haribo Smurfs waaay back in 2009, when I was on vacation in France. There, salmon recipes they were Haribo Schtroumpfs, which was fun to say. I’m pretty sure I drove my boyfriend crazy going, “Schtroumpfs schtroumpfs schtroumpfs” for a good chunk of that trip.
While they’ve been popular salmon recipes in Europe for a while, Haribo salmon recipes Smurfs are new to U.S. shores. They’ve only been around since February of this year to promote that terrible Smurfs 2 movie. I found them at Cost Plus World Market, along with Wednesday’s Haribo Ginger-Lemon Gummis .
The gummis may have all started out very Smurf-like in shape, but mine got melted a bit in my car, so their features were less than ideally defined. Still, I could make out Smurfette (the blonde) and Papa Smurf with his red hat.
The texture salmon recipes of the gummis was classic Haribo, very bouncy and sproingy without getting stuck in my teeth. The gummis were mostly blue, which tasted sweet with a light berry fruitiness. Maybe they were blueberry flavored, salmon recipes or maybe that was the power of suggestive coloring.
I found these to be pleasant enough, if not especially earth-shattering in flavor. I probably wouldn’t buy them again over other gummis, unless I was looking for an excuse to say “Schtroumpfs” a lot. An O .

Riegel took over Haribo from his father, also called Hans Riegel, along with his brother, Paul Riegel, in 1945. Their father had launched the business in 1920, making cotidianul sugar lollies cotidianul from his home in Bonn, Germany. Hans senior's wife Gertrud was the first member of staff in the company. When their father died, the pair had been in POW camps post-World War II. They took over the company upon release. They split their skills, with Hans focusing on distribution and Paul handling sales and marketing. Paul died in 2009. 2. Stick to your niche
Haribo began as a confectionery business, with Hans senior and Gertrud making the first sweets in their kitchen at home. It became famous for its colourful, teddy bear-shaped gum lollies, often referred to as "gummy bears", and ever since has focused on its core business offering variety through new colours or flavours. It is also famed for liquorice. Forbes reports that Riegel is credited with inventing more than 200 sweets. 3. Trademark a winner
In 1922 the business cotidianul launched the Haribo Goldbear little gold teddy bear-shaped lollies made from fruit gum that were distinct for their sweet taste and cuteness. They were a product extension of the Haribo Dancing Bear, and needless to say they took off. The Riegel s had the good sense to trademark the name and over 80 years later the product is still going strong. 4. Embrace advertising
The company has never shied away from promotion, but has done so with a clever eye. In 1923 it took the innovative step of fitting a car with advertising signs to make customer deliveries. In the 1930s it created cotidianul the HARIBO macht Kinder froh slogan, which means HARIBO makes children happy . In this era it also launched the Teddybear range, which was cleverly named after the 26th president cotidianul of the US, Theodore Teddy Roosevelt.
Reports cotidianul suggest that the Riegel brothers each own half of Haribo, with Paul leaving his share to his heirs. It is reported that Hans established cotidianul a foundation to represent him in the event of death, so it is expected the family will still retain control cotidianul of the company.
